Early mornings seem to be the theme of my holidays . 5 am start to get to the wee parking space near forestry gates. Pop through the gate already fully geared up for the wet conditions. No sigh of our hill due to the cloud and rain but we plodded on the track. Passed the wee cottage and on to the footbridge. We then began our uphill making good time. Deviating from the path we aimed directly for the summit on An Socach. We reached summit after 2 hrs and by now visibility was coming and going . Quick stop for munch and photos and we are heading back across the plateau. The wind is now on our back , helping ? , our descent. We cut out section back to the bridge and instead headed for stalkers path and a quick hop over burn and we are back at the cottage. By now the ponies are in the track ahead braving the wild conditions. Made it back to car before the weather truly closed in. Stopped for a brew at the cafe at Corgarff which was well needed
