Got my wrist slapped in the General Discussion so I'll try here:

Went for a quick sprint up Ben Hope a few weeks back and looking through the photos was wondering if I could see Suilven. What to people think? If it isn't what would it be?

Trip Report:

Was working in Thurso for the week, keen to get out one evening but was very aware of the short evenings at this time of the year. Got a bit of a flyer from work and managed to get to the bottom of Hope for 5:15. 15 minutes behind schedule but after the drive from Thurso I was determined to still get up there. Weather was looking bonza, bit of a nip in the air but not too windy.

Took the standard approach up, nothing special. Tried not to stop for breath too many times. Got to the summit almost within an hour - bit disappointed. Was cold on top. Got every layer I had on. Got the camera out. Cloud blew in. Not happy. Looking north east I could see a nice bright moon:

Didn't want to hang around for too long on top because i) it was cold and ii) it was getting dark. Faced with the usual dilemma of how long to I give the cloud to go before packing up and heading down. 5 mins later. Camera packed up. Pack back on, shoulder straps nice and tight ready for a quick descent. Clouds clears. Wow:

Worth waiting for

Camera obviously back out. A few quick photos. Time for a quick descent. Back down to the car in 30 mins. Had the head torch out for the last 5 mins. Nice timing. Back to Thurso and straight into the take away for a well deserved Chinese.

Post that question in a trip report and I'll think about opining.

Otherwise I'm staying Shtoom :silent:

I think what Kinley was loosely implying or hinting at was "The photos are pretty good. Why not write-up a trip-report and include them within it?"

He wasn't slapping your wrist

It looks beautiful - I want to see more. 8)

Always best to take a positive spin on forum posts - that's generally more accurate. :D

I dont think it is ...wouldnt the bump on Suilven not have to be on the other side????
Just thinking about the geography of Ben Hope and Suilven on a map....I could be wrong though????

Thanks.

I love the far north. Can't get enough of it. I'll do a trip report of Klibreck and Loyal too.
