Brocken Spectre weekend

Probably the hillwalking weekend of the year was capped off for me by this Brocken Spectre on Garbh Bheinn:



Lucky me, I thought... then I get back to look through the walk reports on Walkhighlands, and it seems they were everywhere:

On the Sgurr na Ciche range with Dooterbang:

I saw one too, but it was hidden away on the'Outside Scotland' page, on my way down Carnedd Dafydd:



I'd have swapped two Carnedd Dafydds with you to be on Garbh Bheinn in those conditions though

When I spotted this thread I was going to give you the heads up to get your superb Brocken Spectre onto it

These are a stunning set of photos - congratulations to everyone. We're quite into atmospheric optics and have seen a good few websites devoted to them, but have never seen Brocken spectre pictures as good as these. Some of them, with three or four big, brightly-coloured rings, are just incredible! Sadly never seen one in the flesh - nearest we got was a possible faint fogbow on An Teallach...!
