Started the walk from Roughburn, taking the landrover track as far as the small marker cairn indicating where to leave the track. Here you head into the trees, initially quite boggy but ok as you get further up. Once through the trees you climb a stile then make your way round Meall Clachaig, heading for the summit via Coire Clachaig on a very faint path. From the summit you go over two tops then head down the north west ridge. The visibility was poor on the day and navigation wasn't that easy and we headed west too quickly after the 1044 mark, we then had to head north across the the hillside then down to Tom Mor. Heading upto Beinn Teallach from here was pretty straight forward, as was the rest of the walk as we went down Beinn Teallachs south ridge, picking up the path through the Glen. Once on the path it was a case of finding a point to cross the river and then through the trees to pich up the landrover track back to the start.

Got these two planned for some point over the winter, hopefully clag free and with big cornices hanging off 'em! 8)

I did Glen Spean Munros last year and in similar conditions. Someone I know got once caught in a blizzard on the ridge of Beinn a' Chaorainn... in the middle of July! Looks like these two hills don't like visitors...

i was up here with my son a month ago and both hills were covered in 2ft of snow!!!! funny similar Clag and wind conditions that you had though....

BTW, i think that second Cairn on Tealach is the summit...we nearly missed it in the clag!!! assuming the larger cairn is the one to the west of the small cairn over the minor dip. we bagged both to be sure!!! then slithered down the grass slopes on the south!!!

That bog between the hills was great fun! not!

Hi JC,

Looks like really crappy conditions, doesn't seems to have dampened your smiles though :D :D

I know I'm guilty of bum-shuffling on rocks but what is going on with that stile crossing??? :o :o

Another great one

Jimmy was hung over from the night before :D

Sounds like these hills are cursed with clag.

Smudger, I'm not sure which cairn was the true summit, initally i thought it was the smaller one but not certain

If these ones are cursed, then I hope I get the chance to break that curse some time this coming winter. I 'enjoyed' the same views as you JC when I was up on Beinn a' Chaorainn back in January. A shame, as I hear the views aren't bad on the clear day when you get it :D

read up on this route again last night...so when you get to the top of the North ridge you get to a small cairn, but the summit is accross a small dip to the west of this...

daniel and I started heading south down the grass slopes after the small cairn...then out of the corner of my eye i saw some higher ground to the west that had a cairn on it (could barely make it out for the clag)...this was the summit (about 2 m higher than the small cairn...)

I was relieved not to have missed it (we nearly did)...didnt fancy squleching up that hill again...They were nice hills in the snow....shame it wasnt hard packed!!! doesnt sound like we are getting any early snow this year...boo! nothing beats crisp snow underfoot and a bum slide down a munro!

I was the same, saw the big cairn through the clag and thought aye aye whats this then, so we made our way over just to be sure. The path did bypass the big cairn though so probably a few people missed it in bad weather.

Sorry to interrupt the curse, but submitted my first WR on this pair when I enjoyed a dry and clear(ish) day a couple of years ago when the walking was dry underfoot and the views were very nice indeed.......just thought I'd mention..... :)

ps Very enjoyable report JC....Jim and Mo must be racking up the numbers too (remind them they were equally confused about cairns on Glas Tulaichean :D )
