Yes!The forecast looked good for today so Beinn a'chochuill and Eunaich were the targets, myself,Ian,Charlie and the ever present Jake were suited and booted and on the go for 0815.
- jake eager as ever
Good going up the track to the sharp right turn and then onto the hill.
- spooky eyed coo
- up the track
With Charlie still having the tail end of the man flu and the cold making me and Ian's beaks run like taps ,it was like the 2011 snot fest, and ian thought it was hilarious when a big steam of the stuff landed on ma shiny new jacket(but then i thought it was hilarious when he losts one of his mitts later
)Then the hard work began as we took to the hill
- harder going now
- a wee breather for a pic or 2
It was tough going in the deep snow till we got to about 750m ,started to get a bit icy here so with da crampons
- crampons on
- down to loch awe
- down to glen orchy
- sun out but still cold
Going up here was a bit better on the firmer ground with great views when the sun came out BUT a false summit was reached and then a heartbreaking second one as well so we were relieved when we got to Beinn a' Chochuill.
- cruachan
- at last beinn ' a chochuill
It had taken just over 3 hrs to get here, so no hanging about. It was - 14 in the wind chill according to Charlie's wee gadget .The wind was stinging our faces with ice and snow causing even MORE snot to fly !!No much place for shelter so huddled in behind some rocks for the coldest pitstop ever.
- the coldest Tea room in scotland
- the way to Beinn Eunaich
The way to Beinn Eunaich was clear to see and it was a fair wee drop down and reclimb to reach this bad boy.
- feeling the pain!
It was a major struggle up this last climb the visibilty was not great and it was a great relief when we got to the top.
- charlie, ian, pigeon and Jake the frozen dug
We were knackered at this point and poor wee jake looked frozen without his winter jacket! Two guys appeared from out of nowhere and kindly took our picture. We walked with the guys for a wee bit on the way back down but they were too quick for us
- murder on the hills
- gizza kiss
First bit of the way down was nice and easy and Jake soon thawed oot then a wee steep slippy bit doon to the track.Plain sailing back to the car apart from trying to get through a big herd of hee-land coos.
- last look back
A quick change then into Tyndrum for the mandatory pint.Easy peesy or whit!!
- mandatory pint stop
Oh aye, forgot to say good luck Charlie tomorrow on Challum, rather you than me
