The weather forecast for today was far too nice for any work related nonsense so daveh and myself decided to head up to Glencoe for a walk , Buachaille Etive Beag the target . After doing my usual trick of driving past the parking place we eventually got sorted out and were off up the hill for 0830 . An hour's easy walking on the well made path brought us to the col , enjoying the sunshine but feeling a nip from the fresh westerly wind.

From the col we headed northwards to Stob Coire Raineach , the ascent was short and steep but free of snow and the cairn was soon reached ,rewarding us with great views .

After a while on the summit taking photos and exploring we retraced our steps down to the south and started the ascent of the ridge leading over the 902m top to Stob Dubh . The ridge was tricky in places with patches of hard snow but much of the ridgeline had been well scoured and a route through was found with care .

A short traverse of level ground and a final steeper section brought us to the summit with lovely views down Glen Etive in the winter sun.

A sheltered spot was found for a bite to eat but the chill wind encouraged us to get moving again back towards the 902 m top , from there we descended north to avoid a large patch of hard snow and ice before contouring around to join the path below the col .

Making our way down into the Lairig Eilde a shower of sleet caught up with us but the shelter of the van was soon reached and off we sped to Tyndrum for tea and cakes . A lovely short walk and much more fun than work !

Any day in the hills is better than work , but this one stunning, the incredible beauty of a clear winters day in such a location has a value that is difficult to describe. Cracking

I looked out the window in work today quite a few times wishing I was out enjoying it. Hopefully the weather stays the same until Saturday and I enjoyed reading that whilst being jealous at the same time

Great set of photos, I was up during the summer!!, and its a great place to be. I got some good photos but you bring out something else again, so clear
Know what you mean about the carpark, I shot past and only just caught a glimpse of the "beehive", not the best spot for slamming on the anchors.
