Deuchary Hill, Dunkeld, in the morning.

I left the parking area at 09.45, my car being the first one there, and took to the path. There is a sign at the parking area indicating path to Mill Dam. This is a very good path which climbs gradually until you are roughly half a km from Deuchary Hill summit where it then starts to steepen. There are waymarked signposts on the way up. I went up and down the same way and never saw a soul on the way up, on the way down i had a quick chat to three guys doing the circular route. I then saw a jogger with her dog, got the usual nod from the jogger and she passed. I find joggers very unsocialable as they never seem to look happy and allways look stressed out. Where's the fun in that? I say they should give up and take to walking . Sorry if i upset any joggers on this site The last people i spoke to were a very pleasant older couple who were out doing a low level walk. Once back at the car i decided to go climb Birnam Hill as it was only 12.40. Out of the two hills i'd say this one was the best, it was the better walk and the views were also better.

A lovely walk Johnny and what a great spot to be in today! I've often scoured over the maps around those areas, but spent more time higher up to the north. Got a good friend in Dunkeld though who loves getting out and about around his home....great stuff, good effort

Cheers Monty, the whole summit area was nice with lots of wee areas for refreshments. I was just up too early to have lunch there. You're the exception to the rule Monty when it comes to joggers

This is a cracking hill JC.I'd agree that it beats the pants off Birnam Hill. Must say, I was not sure about the start point at first either. I'm accustomed to it from the big carpark by the sawmill on the back road out of Dunkeld.
