Great Mell Fell

I have just had a great day in the Eastern Fells knocking off the smaller outlying hills, which I completed in three separate walks.

This is what was outside the window of my B&B when I opened the curtains at 7am...

I headed off at around 9am to climb Gobarrow Fell, Little Mell Fell and Great Mell Fell. I had no idea what to expect and thought I would be in for quite a dull day as these hills don't get a great press, but the views were simply spectacular!

I hope the rain stays away tomorrow!!

Fantastic photos Derek. I think the smaller fells can be more enjoyable than the biggies when the weather is like this.

We had a great day on the Mell Fells about 10 years ago after a big dump of snow. Jumping into huge snowdrifts is the best thing ever!

I'm glad I done these in the snow as it definitely added something to the experience. Much better than a rainy day in summer or a warm sunny day when you can get up the biggies

That's really whetted my appetite for tomorrow for my first day out this year which will be on the Riggindale Horseshoe.

Certainly was a great day in the lakes yesterday, Derek.Those smaller hills do often give excellent views, particularly in such conditions.
