Fascinating little place for such a short walk. Parking is at the Queen's View Carpark on the A809 Stockiemuir Road.
Here's a few pics from our ventures there...
Also worth a visit out this way is Finnich Glen aka The Devil's Pulpit . It's about two miles by Queen's View towards Drymen on opposite side. Unfortunately, we went on a whim, only armed with mobile phones, around teatime, and light was poor, so not much to show off. Definitely worth a visit to this surreal wee place if you're in the area, though care should be taken if taking the kids, as the drops are vertical and the staircase down is very slippy. We will be visiting in better light armed with a proper camera next time, so hopefully get some decent pics up soon.
Finally got round to revisiting this stunning wee place.....

Oh check you showing off that you've been up the Whangie more than once!!!
I've never even been at all!!!
Smashing photos both times, although it looks a wee bit scary to me
Is that Derek in the fetching bodywarmer?

Dave, loved all those photos but looks a bit green and slimey in places!!
Was there no talking on the vid, just footsteps??? At one point I didn't think I was going to make it through the gap, but I did!

Haha I'm camera shy Susie!!! Was a rather tricky walk down the stairs into The Devils Pulpit, wet slippy boulders and a fallen tree to negotiate!!

Hi Dave, i love it up the whangie! Also visited Devil`s Pulpit last year, thought i did a report on it but can`t see it in my diary, and we walked right round to the outlet and waded through the water up through some of the waterfalls till it got too dangerous, a hidden wee gem so it is.

Hi, Dave, we didn`t see any eels, but plenty of dead hedgehogs ! they must have fell over the edges, you should go up in the summer and walk through it. It`s like a lost world. We stayed close to the edges, walking along ledges , but there was the occasional bits were you fell right in and the water`s so dark you cant see the bottom if it`s deeper than a couple of feet.

Hi,
I'm just wondering if you think The Devil's Pulpit would be accessible by someone with a slight walking disability, if they take great care?
I'm not a walker, but I love being in nature and I'm also a photographer and this location is so inspiring to me ... I'd love to go, but my mobility isn't great. I am very determined, though!
Could anyone give me a realistic idea of how to get there from the road ... distances etc, so that I might determine if it's even worth a shot?
I'd really appreciate it so much!
Cheers,
Steph

Hi Steph
There's a parking bay for 1 car on the a809 roughly around 495848, about 4km North of The Queens View car park. There's a fence on the other side which is quite mangled and you can duck under it, then a very short climb up 10 ft or so, then you'll see a wall with gate to your left, the gate has to be climbed as it's locked, or at least was when we were there, then it's a short stroll to the right along a muddy path after the gate to get to the bouldered staircase, which is very wet, steep and slippery, there's also now a fallen tree part of the way down the staircase which has to be climbed over. It's worth a try if you're in the area, and even if you don't fancy the staircase, there are little paths that lead to the edge where you can look down, though the drops are fairly hefty!! Hope this helps.
