The mid week sneaky peak club was a solo effort again as no one could come out to play. The weather forecasts looking particularly peachy. I decided on this single as a fairly easy target. Left Glasgow at 05:30 & drove up with no traffic hic ups. Arriving at what I am sure will become known as the iconic lay-by 94 (Thanks Susan) by 07:45. Clear sky’s glorious colours oh happy day. Once ready walked up the road a short distance to the track & climbed the gate. Followed it until the junction with the main track & took a left turn continuing to the bridge before the power station building. Continue on the path over another bridge (loved the fact that all streams had a bridge!) & just before loch Chuaich took a right still on a track to the private bothy. Cross two more streams, again with bridges, & take the path on the left rather than follow the track up the Allt Coire Chuaich. Looking at the surrounding hills I wondered whether I might come back a different route to take in some high level sunshine. Followed the path up the broad ridge. In wetter conditions it would be a bog fest I’m sure. Today, solid with icy patches to avoid. Patchy snow started at about 600 meter & then the snow line at about 700 meters. Soft so no need for crampons. Occasionally still thigh deep, but not often. All the time I had been walking cloud had been building on the neighbouring peak of A’Mharconaich & as if by magic as I came over the shoulder of the domed summit it moved. I couldn’t see a thing & had to take & follow a bearing to the summit. I nearly cried, but kept my faith that it would move off again. Through the murk I spied a fence post then the cloud moved on WOW. I almost had a 360 degree panorama of Scotland. The Drumochter hills, the Ben Alder group, Creag Meagaidh & the Cairngorms. By the time I put my camera away my hands were stiff & sore with the cold. Gloved back up & on my way down sticking to the route up as the one annoying cloud was still hovering over my alternative decent route. Once down walked out to the Loch & had lunch before walking back to the car still grinning.

Fantastic Jonny, what happened to the old "red sky in the morning" saying (other than that patch up top where you held your nerve and got your just reward) this looks like a perfect day, lovely photos throughout

You'll love it. It's a great hill that is probably underrated. I would have it on my 'do it again list' You've done one of the two next to it, which i haven't so we could follow do Doots route & bag all three giving us both 2 new ticks. It only took him about 8 hours so i'm sure we could do it in 12
