Some time off work and a break in bad weather offered me the chance to drive up to the Lakes to get some much needed walking done.It has been a while since I have been in the hills which I could tell whilst struggling for breath on the way up.
Kentmere was in my sights this time, so early on friday morning I left the hotel. The first half of the Kentmere Round today was excellent my first objective being Yoke. The clouds stayed away with views in every direction. The walking was easy but was up and down like a roller coaster but eased once on High Street.
One final up and down to reach Mardale Ill Bell from High street and that was it for major elevation changes.By this time the weather was closing in and it was freezing, I was only treated to a glimpse of the views every now and then but I felt I had been lucky to have them on the first half of this round.

Great stuff Paul, 20k is a fair lump in winter but then if you've driven all that way you might as well make the most of it  some beautiful shots throughout too, enjoyed this :D

I did it a couple of days before you and loved the fact that even on a Saturday, I didn't come across anyone until I hit High St. I did get an early start but it was just myself and a pack of hounds which seemed to be doing some freelancing hunting up from Kentmere.

Past High St and the weather turned nasty, long and heavy sleet showers, and a bog of a path along the north ridge. Still it was a great hangover cure and set me up for another one!
