What would you like help with?

Is there a feature or some functionality on Walkhighlands that you don't understand or need help with?

Please reply to this post to let us know. We'll then try to write a series of How to... guides in response.

It there a way to get an RSS or ATOM feed of the forum (or indeed the whole site?) so that - now I think I've seen what I wanted to see - I can keep up with any changes without having to revisit the same pages all the time?

Hi Andrew

I'm afraid there isn't a feed for the Forum; we only have feeds for the news section (which you've probably noticed already), thought I wouldn't rule out having more feeds. However the forum gets lots of posts each day so it would be very difficult to see what is going on from a feed.

You can of course set up to receive email notifications of new posts on any particular board in the Forum that interests you. We also post to notify where we have added new walks each week in the Announcements forum - so you could put a notification on that.

Does that help? Let me know if we need to put an explanation of how to get the notifications.

Someone else was asking if we could set up a wish-list of Munros; maybe we could set something up so you were notified of new posts only on the Munros or other hills in your wish list. Would anyone be interested in that?

I hadn't but will check it out now.

I'll just use that. That's fine.

Getting my details on the forum

Postby seadog » Tue Jul 28, 2009 5:38 pm

Hi, Could you tell me how to get my details onto the right hand side of the page, I am sure that it very easy to do but if you could explain it to me that would be great. Seadog

Hi I have just registered on this site. Is it possible to enter notes against each Munro you climb ie date who was on the climb etc and then be able to see the note when you click on the Munro.

Hi Heck

Yes, but it isn't very intuitive at the moment. You have to go to the forum board for 'Trip reports - Scotland', click 'New topic', choose the hill(s) and tick the box to indicate that you are writing a note (which means it won't appear in the Forum)

Whatever you put in the box will then be shown when you look at the page for that Munro (or Corbett, or whatever). You can also see all the notes and reports you write by clickin on the 'View your walks diary' link.

Very shortly we will be modifying the system so that it is more obvious; there will also be a dedicated field for the date you did the walk (as well as some more fields) so that you will be able so search all your notes by date etc. Hopefully this will be done within the next 2 weeks.

Hope this explains things!

Munro count

The number and percent value of the Munro's I've bagged at the top of my map won't update, it always shows 0. However until today it did update for Corbetts but I've just added one and it's returned to 0! What am I doing wrong ?

Hi Robert

Look near the top of the forum where it says 'Munros: Map Update' and click update.

Tick off the Munros you've done, then press to save them. From then on, those Munros will be shown on your map, and in your counts.

Paul

Thanks, but that's what I've always done, but the count still doesn't get updated, it just stays on 0. Perhaps it's my PC.

After you've filled in which ones you've done, are you pressing the 'submit munros climbed' button at the bottom?
