General Wade through the Monadhliath Bog

A solo effort for the mid week sneaky peak club again this week. Plumped a longer drive & a shorter walk.
The parking area for this walk can’t be missed as it is at the road end right before the bridge. It’s said to have been built by General Wade, but I think this is incorrect & is so named because once across it you have to generally wade through boggy sh*t* for about 4 hours. My boots still haven’t dried out yet.
Once across the bridge take a right down the track & then over the new bridge which takes the construction traffic. Then immediately left along a fence, cross the fence & walk along the Feith Talagain until you come to a gap in it, in front of you. After the gap the path veers away from the river & takes you to another fence with a style. In the notes it says ‘ the route soon reaches the Allt Coire nan Dearcag, which may be difficult to cross in spate’. Imagine my delight!
In reality it was fine waded through gaiters kept the water out.
Not long after this I lost the rough path, but followed my bearing up the heather slope to the broad ridge were I picked up the path again. Looking back I realised I had mistaken the path for a small burn. Silly me.
By this point I was in the clag where I remained until my return. This was as forecast but at least it was dry. Well from the head down anyway.
Continued uphill past what looks like a piece of old shelter or wall till the summit plateau were I came across a smallish cairn. Visibility meant that I could not see anything higher. No visible path leading away from this cairn, but defiantly not the big cairn in the picture so I continued on my bearing for another 10 mins, low & behold a large cairn. A quick photo & off back down.
I enjoyed my day, but would recommend a -4C day not +12C.

Dammit Johnny, that first paragraph had me spitting my breakfast out I always say any day in the hills is a good day but 4 hours of splodging might challenge that Still a great effort mate and at least you were out there
