Beinn Luibean and Beinn Ime
- route taken
Video of day here:
After dropping family off at the airport I headed up towards Arrochar. Being an early flight we were up at the car park at Butterbridge relatively early. We left at 07.30 and headed up the stream starting at the old ruined cottage.
- start of roue
The path was boggy and also very slippy with it passing through an old forestry plantation, the old branches and roots causing a little bother in the lower reaches. We were soon in the clag – probably by 300metres and continued up on the west side of the stream into the hanging corrie. Visibility was poor but there had been a slight suggestion in some of the forecasts that some of the higher summits may penetrate the cloud layer – however from our position this looked unlikely!.
We headed up Beinn Luibhean first reaching the summit in good time – around 08.30 ish and there was definitely no inversion!! A brief stop for sandwhiches and back to the bealach to trudge up Beinn Ime.
- not many chances for landscape pics so here is some lichen!!
The mizzle had soaked through now and it was certainly good exercise heading up the munro. We decided to head off north to Glas Bhealach ad then descend west by the Allt Beine Ime.
- close up of erm mosssssss
The weather on the descent was windy and wet – however we would gain brownie points by being home early. Got back to the car at 11.00 and home before 13.00 (where the sun was shining and we spent the afternoon in the garden in shorts and T–shirts almost unbelievable!!
This is a nice little hike taking in a corbett and Munro and may well be revisited on a nice day to see what the views are like!!
