5 Corbetts 10hrs 4 tired feet=2 Happy Corbett Baggers

I had been waiting for a day like today to do this round and after informing Mountain Thyme on Friday i'd be doing them on the Sunday she quickly cancelled a night on the peeve to get 5 Corbetts in the one outing. We set off at 9am crossing the railway line to climb the steep slopes of Beinn Odhar to the ridge and onto the summit.We reached the summit 10 mins ahead of the SMC book. We took some photos and had a look at where we would head next, chatting to another fellow walker while there. We set off down the south east ridge then headed down the steep east slopes before climbing up the steep slopes of Beinn Chaorach reaching its ridge and onto the trigpoint summit. Again we were spot on time wise and after a few photos we were off back down the ridge to Cam Chreag. This section was the easiest part of of the walk and we were at Cam Chreag in one hour. It was a wee bit windy at the summit so we descended slightly to have lunch. Mountain Thyme commented that it would be nice to have a foam seat to sit on. I said one like this as i got it out my rucksack? Like a true gent i sat on it and had my lunch After lunch the sun was out and it was hot as we made our way across to Beinn nam Fuaran, the longest section of the walk. This was where we started losing time with the SMC book as our energy was sapped and our legs were getting tired. We plodded on up the slopes of Beinn nam Fuaran. I decided to leave my rucksack at a point where we would return and Mountain Thyme kindly offered to carry my bottle of lucozade in her rucksack hence doubling the weight of it We had a wee breather on the summit before returning to my rucksack then we headed over to Beinn a' Chaisteil, the final Corbett of the day. Again our pace had slowed due to the climbing and the heat in the sun and we finally reached the summit just before 5, again we had a wee breather before we took to the ridge down to Glen Coralan. Two hours after leaving the summit we were back at the car. This was without doubt a hard day with over 2000m of ascent and 20+ kilometres. All worth it though to get your 5 a day in

What a cracker JC, that's a good slug of ascent and distance combined but I guess on a day like that you would have to tire yourself out to convince yourself to leave the hills. I like the 'count' photos as you move along

OK so I've just been reading about this walk then all of a sudden 2 reports appear....someone is trying to tell me something Great effort, looks like a long tough day, but worth it in this weather

Just read the other report of these 5 so knew exactly where you were going and what you were putting yourselves through Some wonderful photos and look at that weather, amazing for March

Qualiky walk and great picture's these's hills are steep to climb. passed them when walking up the track to beinn mhanach.

It was a cracking day.Really steep corbetts but very lucky with the weather.

As for the carrying me up the hill malarky.. heres the true story.. of someone lagging behind and thats without a rucksack !

Thanks MW it was an amazing day and well worth the effort doing the 5 but it would be just as rewarding breaking them down to 2 or 3 outings

It certainly was warm on Sunday Johnny, I drove home that day after my week north of Inverness. 14 deg C at Drumochter Pass summit at only about 10 o'clock, and 22 deg C on the M74. So it must have been a hot day for that round!

I bet you weren't complaining though, and I wouldn't have been. Your photo of Creag Mhor and Bheinn Heasgarnich reminds me of the soaking I got there in August last year.

Well done on getting round all five, I'm constantly being reminded of how much harder some of the lower hills must be than some of the Munros.
