Well it took me 3 tries to climb Stuc a'Chroin but I finally managed it on September 24 '08. Got up Ben Vorlich with no problem and of course I was again immersed in heavy fog. Seems to be my standard situation with this mountain
. I decided to still continue towards Stuc a'Chroin and crossed the bolder fields in poor visibility which was quite eerie. Just when I thought I was all alone and the Stuc loomed forebodingly out of the mist I was overtaken by a friendly young dude who appeared to be running the path that I cautiously navigated. Made me feel old - but that's life, hehe. The scramble was quite something because it was wet but I managed to reach the summit eventually. Visibility was zero, but I enjoyed it nonetheless together with 3 other hikers who had used the cairn on the summit as shelter from the wind for a short break. For the descent I didn't take the scramble-route but went down the west side of Stuc a'Chroin and then circling back across the north flank of Ben Vorlich towards Ardvorlich. Very good day out - one of these days I will catch those two in good wheather and I will enjoy the views!
