My sister wanted to do her first Munro so I thought this being fairly straight forward yet also interesting Ben Vane would tick all the boxes. We left the car at around 830am it was pretty cloudy but the forecast was to brighten up with MWIS saying 90% chance of cloud free Munros It was easy going along the path until we had to turn off and head across the more boggy ground at the foot of the hill there was a few slips but both managed to stay on our feet  .Once the boggy stuff was passed it was a relentless slog straight up the face of Ben Vane a lot steeper than i thought it was gona be and Catherine was finding it hard around halfway up so we stopped for 10 mins to give her a wee break. As we climbed higher it was getting noticably brighter and soon we were above the clouds and had amazing views over to Ben Lomond Narnain and Ime. A few more rest stops later and my sis wondering if there actually was a summit after 3 false ones we arrived there around 2.5 hours from leaving the car stunning views in every direction and another immense day in the hills . :D

Cracking day for a first munro - makes all the difference ! This was also my younger son's first munro when he was 10 but we couldn't see a thing at the top never mind the cold and rain despite being the end of May. Hard to beat a good inversion - cheers :D
