This petite wee hill overlooks out house on the other side of the Tay, so it looms large every time I think about where to head for a walk. Followed the route outlined beautifully on this site. Luthrie is indeed a lovely wee village, about ten spaces for parking at the village hall. Walked through the lane separating the farm, and obviously pricked the interest of the cows who followed us along its full length. The track up to the right and all the way to the hill is rocky Land Rover tracks, and today, after a week of rainy conditions gave us a clue to conditions higher up. The route onto the the hill itself was exceptionally boggy, difficult even to navigate round it. No surprise that we saw only two hardy runners in the whole climb, patently quicker than us two, one fleeting glimpse and they were away. Despite its relative size, it was a pretty challenging hours climb, but only one section near to the top where rest was required. Nice trig point and viewfinder on top, with fantastic 360 degree views over to Dundee, along the Tay to Perth, with views south over Fife to the Lomonds. Rain came in as we were getting comfy with a cup of Starbucks Via, so rest on top shortened. Came back the way we came up. We saw a party heading right up the track at the base of the hill proper (read the guide) rather than crossing it up the path, which looked steeper still.

Good wee blast, will go back once it has dried out a bit. Up and down in about two and a bit hours.
