Four weeks had passed since the Kintail meet with a chest infection putting paid to any walking since then, but with The Ring of Steall planned in an other two weeks Alan and me had to get out. With all the snow that had fallen in the last 7/10 days it was where to go,with MWIS forecasting better weather west a quick look at my munro map meant Beinn Sguliard seamed the obvious choice.
After a wee problem finding the start point at Druimnavuic we were on our way walking by 9.00am following the normal WH route onto the hillside,we would follow another route on the way home, but more of that later.A good track makes the going easy, until you reach a small cairn where you cut left and start the climb up to the 488 spot height,it soon became apparent that the chest infection had taken its toll with me already panting and wheezing and even contemplating turning round and heading back to the car,but the weather could not have been any better, and I would only have to come back and climb this one,so onwards to the 863 spot height.
All the time the views all around were opening up,behind us Loch Creran was looking fine, the hills of Morven, over to Mull and Ben More, further round and The Paps of Jura could be seen, the long trench of Loch Etive with Ben Cruachan at one end and Ben Starav at the other, the sharp peak of Ben Lui standing out, then the Blackmount Hills, all the Glencoe giants,Bidean,Aonach Eagach,The Big Heardsman,Ben Nevis with its snowy top,in the distance The South Glen Shiel Ridge, and even the summit cone of Sgurr nan Gillean, amazing, with all this we were in no hurry today. So here are the pictures taken, hope you like.

So thats all the pictures, now for the decent, the WH route tells you to re-trace your outward route,But Steve Kew & Cameron McNiesh say its better to make this walk a loop,so me being the bright spark that I am this is what I suggested to Alan and I quote........."Listen mate I dont fancy all those up and down, why dont we head west and drop down the steep/grassy/rocky ridge and head for Taravocan" I nae bother says Alan.........................see the next time I have a bright idea, your are all welcome to give me a slap,2 punishing hrs later we are down, but my gammy knee & ankle will never talk to me again.

Enjoyed that wee report glw. It really was a magical weekend on the West.

We headed NW and had a superb but tough Saturday and Sunday.

Great pictures you seem to be getting. New camera or have you gone back to school?

Thanks Dave.
