Uamh Bheag pretty much by the book

Not a lot to say about this one. Getting well and truly into the lighter evenings so grabbed the opportunity to do a midweek evening outing on this little southern Perthshire Graham-cum-Donald. It was a rare recent outing for Lucy too, not having done a hill day since Ben Tirran in early December.

Did it pretty much as per the route described in the Andrew Dempster book on the Grahams. Parked at the large parking area near Glenartney Church and walked along the road to the bridge over the Water of Ruchill and then along the river on an eroded muddy path to the confluence with the Allt Ollach where I found a wooden bridge a short distance upstream that got me onto the steep, pathless slopes of Am Beannan. The ascent of this northern spur gave good views across to the Loch Earn Munros of Stuc a' Chroin and Ben Vorlich and their neighbouring Corbett, Meall na Fearna. Mental note taken of a future good long day route taking in these three.

Got into the snow line near the top - fairly unpleasant, mushy stuff all the way along the plateau to Meall Clachach and then the gentle rise up onto the summit of Uamh Bheag. Posed for a mugshot with the funny wooden carved face atop a pole sticking out of the cairn before making my way over to the trig point on the twin summit to the south east and then back down through Coire na Fionnarachd to the Allt Ollach and the wooden bridge. Pretty dark by this stage for the walk back along the river and the tarmac.
