Participants: Isabel and Joe
Weather: Cloudy with a few sunny periods and a heavy shower of hailstones.
Route: road, farm tracks, way marked.
Wildlife: Grouse
Special Interest: Newark Castle, Cairns.

Parked in Bowhill car park. The house and grounds were closed but we only wanted to do the walk, so no fee to pay to get in. We followed the route pretty much as described in WH following yellow arrows. it feels like a long walk just to get out of the trees. Once out, there are indeed good views in different directions as you walk round.
we had lunch when it was sunny and got caught in a fierce hailstone shower that quickly turned everything white. We dried out when it went off and the sun came out towards the end.Took in the cairn on Newark Hill, there is a track to it.Newark Castle is impressive close up. Really enjoyed it despite getting wet.
