Well 3 weeks ago at the easter break I had climbed my 99th munro at Loch Treig and i knew it was going to be while before i could get out and climb my 100th. I had been in the hospital getting a much needed operation to my broken nose as it was getting to the point were I couldn't breathe from it so i had to bite the bullet and get it done. The years of abuse my body took from playing rugby, it was only a matter of time before i ended up in hospital. Luckily ive avoided any really serious injuries although seeing some nasty broken bones from horror tackles i thought it would only be a matter of time before it was me.
Anyways back to the story. Having had a surprise mini WH meet on Stob Coire Easian with Bod, Val, Scoob. Gavin and ohh yes how could I forget Richie (in the canine world he's a bit of an experienced mountaineer.)
We had a good chat on the walk back and Bod added me to Talk Highlands on Facebook so we could keep in touch and talk about hills and post photos of them (sounds a bit sad doesn't it? Well its really quite fun!)
So the following Friday I was in hospital and the doctor sentenced me to 2 weeks house bound to recover which I knew was going to destroy me. It really did feel like a jail sentence especially when I was reading all these wonderful reports and seeing how good the weather up north was. Feeling depressed
I heard talk of Ben Cruachan from Val which sparked some excitement in me
and I wanted in on it! So the arrangements where made for the Saturday and i was counting down the days and keeping check on the weather forecast. It looked as though the good spell of sunshine that week would last into the weekend and I was so excited at the possibility of my 100th munro in cracking weather.
Well it didnt disapoint! Hayley and I met up with Bod, Val and Richie and what a day we had indeed. A wee shout out to CliveW from WH who passed by and said hello at the start of the walk. I wont say much about the walk but will just let the pictures tell the story and im sure Bod has plenty to pics to post up aswell. He was also celebrating his birthday so it was a double whammy (sorry Bod the massive birthday cake i had for you just wouldnt fit in my rucksack!)
Im sure you had a great day with the walk and a barn dance to go to at night with copious amounts of whisky and dancing sounds like the recipe for a great birthday.
Just a final big thank you to yourself and Valerie who presented me with a small hip flask full of whisky to celebrate my century. It really means a lot to me and this special day will stick with me forever!
