Ben Wyvis 1st munro

At the turn of the year I had been really pushing the other half to do a munro, "Aye when the snow melts on them hills" was her reply, that might never be i said, Scotland we live not france. Luckily we had a great spell of weather in March, a lot of snow melt and glourious sun shine, so i suggested Saturday 24th March lets see what the weather would be like when we got up, the forecast was very good.
Hardly slept that night with excitement so I was up at the crack of dawn wondering what munro too tackle, the night before i looked at maps to see what was close by and it was either cairngorms or ben wyvis , the other half did'nt want the cairngorms as there would be to much snow there so wyvis it was.
Arrived at the car park at 9am and just had enough room for 1 more car, thinking to myself were late cause everybody was gone, it seemed a straight forward mountain according to the books and it was.... for me the other half said if i knew it was going to be like this i would have stayed in bed.. LOL. But she did it and at the end she was glad she did, a sense of achievment as she put it. The views and light was fantastic I will let the photos do the talking.

Great day and the other walkers we met were so nice and helpful towards us especially the wife as she struggled,all the encouragment she recieved from others kept her going, so if you were one of that people thank you very much.

Your pictures are superb esp that funny fish eye one, really atmospheric with the layers of colour and well done to mrs Main for keeping going will she come out with you again?

Well done and 5 hours is a good time for this Mountain for someone not use to hillwalking. You have got Big Bens neighbour Little Wyvis down as walk, not sure if you've noticed that.

Interesting set of pictures Many people consider Ben Wyvis as boring, a hill "to do quickly and forget". You have just proved them wrong!
Little Wyvis is a perfect walk in winter conditions, on a good day views are stunning. I'm waiting for a chance to re-climb the Big Ben in snow, maybe next winter...

Any hill is good for me blackpanther i love them all not such a thing as a boring hill eh ! and yes i fancy it in the snow as well
