Day 2 on Skye Sgurr a'Mhadaidh and Sgurr a'Ghreadaidh

Day 2 on our Skye trip was going to be a little less exciting than scaling the In Pin on day 1 but never the less Sgurr a'Mhadaidh and Sgurr a'Ghreadaidh are not to be sniffed at they are two fine peaks on the Cuillin Ridge. Unfortunately whilst the weather down in Glen Brittle was fine there was low cloud on the summits which cut visibility down to a few yards as you climbed up out of Coire a'Ghreadaidh towards An Dorus.
We had the luxury of a late start this morning and Colin, my brother, and I met up with our guide, Jonah Jones, at the car park by the YH in Glen Brittle at 9.30; we were on the way pretty quickly and followed the path up alongside the Alt a'Choire Ghreadaidh and the waterfalls. It's a great walk in with a steady climb up to the Coire and up a long zig zag path up through the scree beneath An Dorus.

Just before we reached the chimney up to An Dorus we dumped the packs and got kitted out with harnesses; the cloud and mist were right down, unfortunately we couldn't see more than a few yards in front of us. From this point below An Dorus we headed north to pick up the ridge leading to Sgurr a'Mhadaidh.

The climb up to the first summit didn't take us long, there was some decent scrambling on the way along the ridge but nothing that slowed us down. As there was nothing to see we didn't hang around and made our way back to our start point to head up the chimney to the col.

We reached the second summit of the day at about 13.00 hrs, couldn't see a bloody thing, oh dear, never mind, we all knew exactly what would happen; as soon as we started to head back down the sun would break through.
Just incase anyone was wondering that's not my gut bulging out in the picture below it's a hat and gloves stuffed into my jacket pocket (honest)

Right on cue the cloud cleared and the sun came out just as predicted, what a bugger, never mind, we had a great walk out in the sunshine and were back at the car park before 3.30. another great day out and time for some sight seeing so after a shower we headed up to the Old Man of Stor and on up the Island.
