[Johnny Corbett]

With the weather forecast on Wednesday being rain almost everywhere Wednesdays walk with Jimmy & Mo was cancelled. We were also due out on the Thursday along with Alan but again the forecast was not good with the exception of Ballachullish which was showing signs of light to heavy rain showers along with sunny spells, so Alan i decided to go for it with the intention of climbing the two Grahams, Meall Mor and Sgurr a' Choise. On the drive up i asked Alan if we should give Jimmy and Mo a shout at Killin as i'd been unable to contact them due to reception problems. We decided if we were gonna get wet then so were they two, so we gave them a shout. We arived at their caravan at 8am and the empty cans of lager at the front door were the signs of the usual heavy night. Mo answered the door half asleep with the order to get her boots on as we were going walking and she quickly informed Jimmy who it was and to get up and get dressed, how i wished i'd had my camera as Jimmy lay in his bed. Anyway we were off on the road again by 08.30 and set off walking at 09.45 in light rain. Walking up the track i'd suggested to Jimmy that we could do the Munro & Corbett instead of the two Grahams and with Jimmy being mainly a Munro bagger he thought this was great idea and after consulting Alan and Mo the decision was made. We carried on up the track following the diversion around the private grounds of the houses and then on a path along side the stream. We crossed the stream to climb to Creag Bhan ridge just before the crags, following this to the Corbett, Meall Lighiche. From the Corbett we headed south from the summit before making our way across to climb up towards Corr na Beinne, stopping for lunch before the climb. This was a steep climb as was descent and the climb up the Corbett but once on the ridge it was an easy walk to the Munro, passing a small cairn before reaching the summit. From the Munro we couldn't decide which way we would head down, we thought about taking the W/H route just before the climb up Stob an Fhuarain but decided we would take the ridge back down. We knew this would be a steep descent as we had a look on the way up but the map showed a route through the crags and we fancied the ridge walk back. It was on this part of the walk when Alan informed us that Danny Welbecks dad worked for the bomb disposal unit and his name was Stan. After we stoppped laughing we continued down the ridge where we eventually reached the steep crags, however Jimmy led the way and found a way through with only one steep scramby bit to negotiate hence telling us thats why he's called Jimmy Craghopper. We then headed for the track back to the start.

Great stuff JC, that Wellbeck joke made me laugh and I've already nicked it and sent a text to my son Kudos to your friends for getting up after a larger fuelled evening and heading into he hills Some good shots in there despite the conditions but the one of Alan 'Happy to be on the ridge' tells its own tale great read mate

jimmy i know he talks Sh*** i remember him and big al in knoydart with the hat on drinking till on hours... and johnny c was on the same wavelength as him... we will need to get a wee walk together soon
