Excellent report LS. Really enjoyed it.Reminded me of one of those text adventure games I bought for my sons Amiga in the late 80s. Like then i was sucked in by the text. So much so that i paid no attention to the photos as i wanted to see the next text. Great stuff well observed (particularly the eye prizing and stick ritual hee hee) and good entertainment. !0 out of 10.

Good report as usual LS, found myself reading it in some weird demonic voice much like trying to read a paragraph of text next to a picture of Morgan Freeman.

I think that would have been Millie the collie you met.
I was on a scrambling course, staying in the hut. Summited Stob Dearg (for the second time) via Curved Ridge. We may have passed each other as i popped to my car, took some pictures around the time you set off.
Took this one at my car just across the wee bridge just about 715

We set off from the hut about 8:30 and i must say i was glad that the higher we got the more the cloud dissipated.

I think it's impossible not to enjoy this beauty.
As i said it's the second time i've done Stob Dearg, but i've yet to do Stob na Broige. I'm not complaining at the thought of a return journey to bag the back Munro on such an iconic mountain.

Hi Nathan, I was aware of someone near the cars by the bridge, and caught a glimpse of someone in a blue jacket, was that you?
By the time I got myself sorted and began the walk there was no-one around. Millie was lovely. The reason she gave the appearance of being a gatekeeper was she came to meet me but I couldn't see or hear any humans The only evidence of folk being about was that the SMC hut was open, I guessed that anyone pottering around was probably off up curved ridge/North Buttress as there was no sign of anyone uphead on the main walkers path up the Coire and I passed the Scotch on the Rocks van so figured climbers were about.
The main ridge walk is simply stunning - it's def something I would do again at the drop of hat. That said the curved ridge is also in my plans but with a long list to do, will prob not make it up there till next year.

Yeah sounds like that was me. Quick trip to the car for pics (and to check out how the midgies were) then back to my breakfast.

I think of all the hills you can drive past and think "i've been up that" BEM is tops.

Thanks for the memories! (is that original?) First 'worshipped the Goddess' in September '72 and witnessed her awesome power in the form of a miniature water spout just onto the ridge: a whistling noise that grew until it passed over a small pool and showered us with water - a blessing or was she taking the p***?
It was a hot, sunny day (hence the twister), so the packs were full; 2 days later on The Ben the packs were light and visibility wasn't.

By 'eck, time does fly - must have another go, see what difference 40 years make.
