The biggest hill in oor fair land,
T' climb it sometime wis definitely planned.
So a fower oor drive, an' a pitch o' the tent,
Wi' ma brand new beets on, ah start the ascent.
Up on the path, passin parks foo o' sheep,
Es is fairly the easy bit, seen ital get steep.
Meet plinty o' folk on the wye doon the hill,
Some spik, some dinna, ach well, please yersel.
Pass a lad sittin doon, tuckin inta a bap,
Think, masel', ah'll wait 'til ah'm nearer the tap.
Bit ah'm workin awa thinkin ah'm deein arite,
Then a mak the mistake o' lookin up t' ma right.
Tell masel' it looks like ah'l hae t' dig deeper,
Cos ae things for sure, it's gan t' get steeper.
Wi' the Loch on ma left, the gan starts t' get easier,
Much better path, an' nae big steens either.
A T-junction appears, an' ah ken ah'm gan right,
Bit it's gye foggy up 'er, an' the taps oot o' sight.
Pass mair folk sittin, the views they're admirin,
Ah trek on by, nae showin ah'm tirin.
Zigzag ma wye up the side o' the rocks,
Ma beets startin nippin, despite ma good socks.
Up inta the fog, nae right sure o' ma bearins,
Meet a lad comin doon, he ses 'jist follow the cairns'.
Sed yill hae t' wander thru a puckle bits o' sna,
Bit yill see a' the fitprints, so jist follow them ena.
Mak it up t' the tap, an' hae a seat for a minute,
Canna see a dampt thing, bit at least noo ah'v din it!
