For the 3rd year in a row i spent my birthday week (May 28th) in and around Assynt. I absolutely love this area as its so diverse, with lochs, sandy beaches, jagged coastlines & some of the most distinct mountains around...Stac Pollaidh is still my favourite mountain in Scotland.

Started of in Kylesku and made my way down the NW coast visiting Lochinver, Altbea, Poolewe, Gairloch & Plockton. Highlights had to be the ever tranquil and colourful Grunaird Bay & the amazing Stac Pollaidh.

I got lucky with the weather, here is a collection of photos from my trip...

We were up there the week before. Snow, rain, gales and the temperature never rose above 7 degrees. What a difference in a week. Lovely pictures, roll on next May.

Paul, you have some amazing photos there  Lucky you
The weather looked fantastic! I love that area; we stayed in Lochinver a couple of years ago and were blessed with good weather then :D

A cracker of a trip there dooters - enjoyed that and the photos  Takes me back - many family holidays to Nedd, Drumbeg, Stoer and Poolewe - in the days when summers were hot & sunny and not too cold to swim in the sea :o - cheers :)

Fantastic. Assynt mountains have that special "something". I love this area, too :D :D but I'm running out of hills to climb here, did Ben More Coigach last week and now it's just Beinn an Eoin and the very far north ones left (Arkle, Foinaven etc.). Will have to start re-doing them which is not a problem. Suilven alone is a mountain to visit more than once.
You're lucky to have been born in May, Doot, my b'day is in November   Every year I climb my "birthday gift" hill but weather hasn't always been good... Usually, it's wet, cold and windy.
