On Saturday 18th August 2012, I had enough time to bag a single munro. 2 hours drive in, 2 hours drive home, 2 hours walk in, 2 hours walk out and 3 hours up and down, means 11 hours of the day expended in bagging this 1 munro - Beinn Mhanach (3127 feet/953m), the last remaining unbagged Orchy Hill for Peter and I.

The long walk in is superb, but if you have a bike - use it!! You ford the river 7 times in and 7 times back and know you have good bits of you finish with dry feet!

This walk shows a superb route up Beinn Dorain, right up the front which looks like a very easy ascent.

The walk in/out is just super, great track, lovely scenery, easy going.

The climb is relentless by quick, with views of Glen Lyon opening up nicely. The summit has a cairn and good views over to the Lawers Range and an appreciation of the steepness of An Stuc!

7 hours from start to finish.

It's a filter plugin for Adobe Photoshop called HDR Pro by Nik s/w

The light wasn't that great on Saturday, so needed a little "something" to bring the features out.

stunning photo's liked the Loch Lyon with the Lawers Range, and a quick time to... we had a hit and a miss day when we did it.

That really is a long walk in JW, looks like all the work comes at the end then a long walk out again, beautiful valley down to the viaduct though....even with 7 river crossings :D

An alternative is go from Achallader Farm via the Dothaidh/Achaladair col: there is a path most of the way and it probably takes about the same time. The bonus is that you can combine it with Beinn Achaladair (or even Beinn a' Chreachain).
