Well I left dark Nairn at 0700hrs to the sound of David Bowie and made my way the 39 miles to "Dufftown", and onwards to the small car park just off the B9009 as described on this site. Quickly got changed into my boots and easily navigated my way through a gate at the base of Round Hill and started the zig zag motion to the top. The views surrounding the initial stage of this walk were superb, but this was to be a walk of two halves. As the track levelled out coming over round hill I went through a gate and continued up Roys Hill where I could see the summit of Ben Rinnes could not be seen if you know what I mean! However the track leading up to the summit was excellent and my garmin was still grafting away even in this deteriorating weather so I cracked on. This was the last day of freedom for two weeks as I was going off to an oil rig once again to earn pennies, so other days were not an option. The combination of well tended path and stone steps ensured a safe, although steep climb the last 500 metres to the trig point with associated information informing me of what I could have seen if the weather was not diabolical. Around the side of the trig point is an excellent location out of the weather behind some rocks to take a break. On the descent once I came back though the mist it was once again a very impressive view, although wet and I did manage to capture some of it with my camera phone. This was my first venture since descovering the website and look forward to meeting some of you in coming months and years.

Macduff...Dufftown...it was early and had Duff written all over it!

Wish I was back there, never mind only 13 days to go until dry land again. Wonder where my satnav will take me to next time???

Well done on your first walk mate. Is the BM the safety vehicle

REmeber any hills you do alone don`t count, you need to do them again when the group is together.

Only going to deal with Corbetts alone Siborg, Munros are for the platoon for sure.

And no, the wagon is not an option for anyone planning an easy ride
