Route description: White Mounth Munros, Glen Muick

Munros included on this walk: Broad Cairn, Cairn Bannoch, Càrn a' Choire Bhòidheach, Càrn an t-Sagairt Mòr, Lochnagar

Date walked: 16/09/2012

Time taken: 9 hours

Distance: 29 km

Ascent: 1250m

a couple of years ago i was asked by my good freind mark if i fancied a couple of munros in killin and to be honest i didnt fancy it at all and had no intention of climbing a hill now or ever!i had just turned 38!

well i went and am so glad i did because on meall a choire leith i caught a bug that was going to change my life for the better! :roll:on that first climb everything changed and all i wanted to do was climb and luckily for me a live right next to the glorious ochil hills

the ochils became my playground for months and i found myself getting fitter all the time!the hills were makin me feel good! :Di was 38 by this time and made mysel a wee challenge,a was gonna climb 40 munros by the time i was 40 years old!well im a wee bit proud of myself because on sunday with ma friends greig and linzi a went a wee bit further by climbing my 50th !!

greig and i had been out walking many times before and it was really nice to have linzi join us for this round of 5!greig and i had been up lochnagar before but were always looking to walk the whole route!

the walk up to lochnagar was good and the weather was fine!lochnagar is an amazing mountain

the weather changed for the worse on munros 2 and 3 but only for an hour or so,we were well soaked!but it didnt dampen our spirits !i was pretty excited about reaching 50!to some thats a small amount but am no done yet!i was a wee but touched by the plane crash on carn an t-sagairt mor

we were all feeling good and i was made to look a right fool by giving a wee hand gesture to celebrate this special munro for me

it was a great day with some great company!from broad cairn it was a long walk back to the car and we decided to walk down to the side of the loch!

was glad to get back to the car and was feelin good about my first big landmark and by the way av still got couple of weeks before a turn 40-something else am looking forward to......NOT!but ye know what a dont feel am getting old,a feel really good and thats all down to the the hills of the ochils and the mountains of scotland!av seen some really amazing places also,places i would never have been if mark hadnt forced me up that first munro a couple of years ago!!i love a good day out on the mountains!thanks! :D

Well done on reaching 50. Many of us probably started as you did, my first was Ben Lomond in 2004 in sunshine, rain, hail and clag and i'm saying to myself, what's this all about and next thing i know i'm hooked :D

thankyou all for your kind comments!i know 50 isnt a massive amount but av only been walking for couple of years and av loads more to give !!aye greig linzis energy bars wer awesome man,al be wantin more of them for sure!i am totally hooked and am glad i found this walking bug cos its guid for the soul!hope to meet ye all on the mountains some time in the future!thanks a lot! :wink: :wink:
