Ah September weekend & by 8pm 17 had gathered at the Glenmore Forest Campsite. 4 family tents successfully erected beer wine & food shared. We were there until Monday & I had a pass to walk on one of the days. Saturday looked the best on paper. So by 10am five of us were ready for the off at the ski centre. My son Jack, his friend Frazer, Harry & Ailsa, a newbie to Munro bagging.
We went for the long walk out to Macdui first & then back via Cairngorm. A well-defined path takes you all the way to the boulder field before Macdui as long as you remember to take the lower right hand folk at each junction. Clear blue skies, with the exception of a wee cloud that capped Cairn Gorm for all of 10 minutes, all day. Stunning views in every direction improving all the time as height was gained. 8)

So clear we could see the path all the way to Cairn Gorm as we past the junction by the lochan. The way ahead was snow. Yay.   So cairn to cairn we went following a fairly steady stream of peps coming & going from the summit. Had lunch & much malarkey at the summit. Snow ball fights & my son practising his Rocket Ron (starfish). He needs to work on his hands if he is to get a perfect ten from Scoob, but practice makes perfect as they say.
It’s a long but easy way to Cairn Gorm. We messed about on the rim of the corrie edge much to the horror of Ailsa who had appointed herself as health & safety officer for the trip, but the boys young & old enjoyed it.
Then one last, quite steep, pull to the summit. More food photos etc. Follow the cairns. Then a stone path which is awful to walk on followed by a very quick descent back to the car on the track the steepness of which made me break into a wee jog (doctors booked to cure me of this)
A great day out for all. Well done to the boys & well done Ailsa on her first two Munro’s.

Sorry jonny, but it's a 9.5 i'm afraid :(
Taking into consideration age and experience, it's a good score none the less :D i'm sure ron will be worried now that he has a serious competitor
Well done on having a great day out  :D
