So it is true what they put in 'Mountain Days & Bothy Nights' about when someone fell off a climbers' crag - everyone used to rush to get their kit in the hope they were dead!

Welcome to the happy world of climbing! There was an unfortunate person died on Ben Nevis. The rescue team, for whatever reasons, could not or would not retreive his body and it lay there for weeks. By the time they got to it, all his stuff was gone, including his clothing. In fact he was now wearing a jacket which was not even the jacket he had set out in; someone had swapped with him!

Is this the guy who went out on Nevis on the 12th February 2005?? His body wasn't found for several weeks. I was on An Gearanach Ridge that day in atrocious conditions. Cant imagine his 'jacket' was any good after being under several foot of snow, frozen or otherwise, after that time!!!

Nah, it was back in the Golden Age of the 1980s, back when we had real winters, and that was in old money. You could get into the cinema for a jam jar and sell your children as chimney sweeps.

The 'real' winter was in 1962/3 and unfortunately, I remember it well :wtf:

Any snow or prolonged spell of cold weather now is always eagerly anticipated, and leaves us with a sense of gratitude!!!

If you are referring to "The Angry Corrie" hill wallking fanzine, I can reassure you that it is in excellent health and likely to reappear soon. Its editor, the splendid Dave Hewitt, knocks out an edition more or less when he feels like it, three or four times a year. Read back issues (and subcscribe) here: http://bubl.ac.uk/org/tacit/tac/.

But he hasn't for over a year now. Hence the thought that his mouldering corpse may be lying, nibbled by hungry cats, in a leaky delapidated garret, forgotten and unloved. Bagsy his boots.

Thanks to Holtlynx for his comment - yes, "The Angry Corrie" was indeed what I was referring to. Always a great read, but the last issue was of course June 2008. Here's hoping.

I'm sure I've had one more recent than that - maybe it is just the website that is not being updated

Having recently survived a day out on Ben Cleuch with Dave, I can assure you that he is well, and while the cats are always hungry - they are well fed.

What do we need to do to tempt him to come on here? Maybe we could do a special 'multiple ascents of Ben Cleuch' logger.
