Clag, clag, clag, drizzle and rain
Perseuded the ladies to do another hill, so Charlie, Christine, Irene and Senga and I set off in marginal weather.
Stopped for a comfort break at the Green Wellie and got very comfortable with a sausage sarnie.
Ground very wet and areas of the path badly eroded and boggy.
Reached the 744m cairn at the bealach in just under 2 hours, stopped for chocolate and fruit and to layer up, don waterproofs.
The ladies were not too happy with the weather/climb and decided on one hill only, so set off for Beinn Dorain, Charlie and I would walk Dothaidh first and catch them up.
Met several groups of walkers at varying times on the ridge, stopped for the normal pleasentries.
The weather detriorated with a brisk wind and the rain turning heavier.
The ladies missed the path spilt below Am Fiaclach and took the low path to climb the backside (south) of Dorain, so we actually missed them which was a little unnerving however they were spotted by other walkers and were still on the right track. They quite rightly decided to retrace their steps on the descent as they were sure of this path.
We did not catch up with them until below the boulder steps that follow the stream bed in Coire an Dothaidh at about 500m height.
Charlie and I stopped at the bealach for a quick bite to eat, it was only then that we realised just how wet had become.
Timings
Car to 744 cairn - 2h
cairn to Dothaidh - 50m
Dothaidh to Dorain - 1h 45m
Dorain to car - 2h
6 hours 35 minutes
No time for a well earned refreshment as had to get back home for the UFBC and Blackness Sailing Club prize award evening.
This takes Charlie to 51 overall and 50 for me so far this year.
