not a walk report as such but thought it belonged here rather than general discussion.

i've walked many a hill and usually i'm fairly quick over routes for several reasons but this walk was to be very different.

i literally switched off, opened my mind and tuned into the land,i did not time my walk as usual (left my watch in the van on purpose) and my phone was off so as to immerse myself in the surroundings and i let myself get lost in the beauty of Scotlands wild landscape,i soaked it all in - the autumn colours, the fresh smell of the pine woods, views as far as the eye could see it was all there in abundance. In short i could sum it up by saying i felt connected to my surroundings :D i sat for ages at the summit watching a group of crows showing off their flying skills and i'm convinced it was a show from them,i've never watched birds in flight for any length of time before but it was fantastic and although they lacked the royalty of an eagle it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.when i left the summit i avoided taking the path back out and literally wandered about the hillside in the general direction of where i needed to go,completely oblivious of time....it was Magical!

anyway, here is a short vid of the day,i hope you enjoy it :D

No words to describe how beautiful this is. Just stunning. :D

I was up Sgurr na Lapaich the same day but had a lot more cloud than this.

The only regret i have about climbing Gairich is i never kept it for the final one. The views from the summit are the best i've ever had. :D

Sounds like you had an amazing day..

Have to wait till I get home to watch the video though, as the It folk are killjoys :(

You describe perfectly why I like camping out so much.. No rush to get back, just amble on, take your time and let yourself get absorbed into the countryside.. Even in the tent, I get absorbed into the life of the insects inhabiting the porch.. This is also why I'm usually alone.. just not the same with someone spoiling the tranquility

And always will be",

interesting post iain, and some smashing views in the video. there is a song by a band called grandaddy called the group who couldnt say, its about a group of townies who are in the countryside and cant see whats around them, then they all get it, they see the beauty in whats around them. it seems your experience on gairich was a similar moment.
