Oh my god the mud, that will be my abiding memory of this walk, thick nasty peat bogs, took us one and a half hours to navigate through about half a mile of mire, nightmare. Apart from that was a great walk, but I don't want to go back so even though I didn't make it to the high point i'm counting it. Hope your all ok with that :)

Your photies brought back a lot of memories of the time when I lived in Manchester and made my first trip to Edale trying to climb to the top of Kinder Scout. Well, after walking through the stunning Grindsbrook Clough I felt disappointed to see the flat Kinder plateau with no apparent summit. Even worse were the mud filled trenches and after a short while and which involved stumbling and a wet and boggy bum  I decided to head back. :(
Thanks for sharing.

The purists wil say I didn't make it to the top, and they would be right. I didn't even try to make the high point my route went round the edge. But I did make the trig. I may try for the middle one day

The mud up there is hard going in wet conditions. There is something about Kinder Scout I like though and that is running into the deep trenches and up the other sides.
I tend to head up there in freezing conditions it makes the going much easier.
