Work work work………. Is fantastic after none for 11 months, but it is messing with my hill time. A rare Tuesday off meant that the Mid Week Sneaky peak club could walk again. Although to be fair many people are carrying the MWSP club torch these days.
After much texting & FB messages whilst waiting for the perfect weather forecast to enable us to leave Glasgow at 2am for Torridon we settled on Sgor Gaoith & Mullach Clach a Bhlair from Glen Feshie as the weather was not playing ball.
Snow meant that winter boots were looked out along with all the other heavy winter paraphinalier for the first time this side of summer.
Campbell (now Known as fifty) , who immediately volunteered to drive without a single moan, picked me up at 05:30 & then off to collect Derek before hitting the A9 Feshie bound.
Suited, heavy booted & off we go at 08:45. Our route was along the Feshie to the land rover track that takes you almost to the summit of MCaB. The walk along the glen was lovely & we even had a small patch of blue sky. Two river crossings easily dispatched with the help of the banana balancing tool. No respected walker should be without one what a difference it makes.
After the lovely amble the track up was a shock, for me anyway, heavy boots & kit just made me toil, not to mention only walking about once a month instead of once a week, but onwards & upwards.
We hit the snow line before the clag, but the snow was more annoying than enjoyable having filled the track & gone all mushy forcing us onto the equally mushy track side with annoying bobbly grassy tussocks.
The summit was made fairly easily with the aide of map & compass. Quick photo call just after a gust of wind knocked me over backwards & I sat on the cairn. It is now wider & not as high but I think the alteration matches this hump of a hill.
Retraced our steps back to the point where the track that crosses the plateau converges with the MCaB track. A quick stop here for more layers & a quick munch before continuing towards Carn Ban Mor. The track crosses a stream twice the first time was ok but had to find a spot to jump the second as the middle was knee deep.
A bit further along took a bearing & headed for the shelter at Carn Ban Mor then on to Sgor Gaoith. We couldn’t see much of the cliffs but did a little rimming & what we could see was quite impressive. The cornices are building nicely so beware if you are there any time between now & about April. The summit cairn is very close to the corrie edge.
We had talked about walking out via a couple of tops beyond the summit & then straight down to the road, but the weather was so foul with no views we navigated our way back to CBM & picked up the main Bhrotain path which took us back to the road just along from the parking area just before dark.
Pants weather, heavy gear but as always good company & a giggle

A good laugh despite the heavy kit, my shoulders are still sore (hip belt should be used next time!)!
I think I'll pay a return visit to that second Munro and amble round the other tops!
You did well despite your time on the sidelines!
Del was pining for you today!

Despite the weather it was a great day. I think the last picture sums up the conditions pretty well  Just as well as I was on the ball with the map and compass :? Jonny you would of been proud of me today the way I guided Meatball up Geal Charn :) Like Meatball I think I may revisit the second Munro on a clear day. Ps How long am I going to get stick for a banana

Great stuff Jonny, work is always good but does tend to eat into the leisure time  I wondered what the hell the banana balance was until I saw that first pic. Always hard work when you can't get out often but worth every step all the same :D

Well, Del, Fifty and Bananaman - what a combination!! Sounds like you's had a good laugh - pity you couldn't see anything - seems to be a recurring theme at the moment. Stroll on for some clear days! :D

Great to see the MWSP club out for the day and great to have one of your reports to read, Jonny
It certainly looked a bit cold
