Weather watch again last week & the mid-week sneaky peak club was spread over the country in a vain attempt to cover as many Munros as possible in the dry. I had the Wednesday off work and Campbell was the only person who could come out to play. A big squad was trying to persuade me to swap to Thursday but work commitments meant I could not, but having heard one or two bits I can’t wait for that report. It will be written by Glasgow’s very own Olympic swimmer.    8)
The weather forecast meant that once again our plans to drive further north were shelved & replaced with a wee 21k jaunt up Gleann Fionn Lighe to Gulvain. Followed the WH route which is straight forward enough. The walk in along the gleann is very pleasant & the weather gods had smiled upon us as we could see the 855 point & the south top. So much for 10% chance of cloud free munros Mr MWIS, or were we in the 10% area. Also missing were the large pulses of rain we were expecting although the wind was fairly strong making it a cold day. Lots of Deer for company along the way as well.
Campbell cursed me once or twice for being a purist & not wanting to bike in hence the title.
Once at the bottom of the track its straight up for about 700 meters & I really toiled, but slow progress was made. As height was gained the views opened up Nevis coming & going & Knoydart looking very wild in the other direction as well as great views towards Kintail.
From the 855 point it’s a great walk to & over the south top to the summit with a wee arête thrown in for good measure.
Spent a bit of time taking in the views at the summit before returning by the same route. We had thought about going back over the Corbett but decided against it. From the 855 point back down was the usual who’s going to slip on the wet grass the most & I was narrowly beaten to that accolade by Campbell.
This was the first time in this neck of the woods for both of us & I really enjoyed it. Thanks to Campbell for the pics.

Nice one jonny. This looks a good hill. Have it down for this winter sometime.

Good to get the views on a 10% day! I was enjoying an 80% day yesterday and saw 100% zilch!! Good when MWIS get it wrong in your favour. Not so good when they don't!

Smashing report Jonny and some awfy good photos too

Yes you definitely got the better weather, although ours was not nearly as bad as the forecast had said. I can honestly say that not one bit of rainwater caused any problems at all  As for river water, well that's another story  As Andy hauled my carcass onto the grass I'm sure I heard someone say 'Well that's Jonny well and truly trumped now'!!!!

Don't listen to him (I know I never do!), they were all absolutely fantastic and certainly didn't make a drama out of a crisis. I think the promise of beer and chips definitely helped
