At last, my first munro. Along with 6 workmates (and 1 mental spaniel) I set off to tackle Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers. The weather forecast had looked favourable, but as we set off from Stirling and saw the snow on Ben Ledi in the distance, it would be fair to say I was filled with a little trepidation. However, we arrived at the Ben Lawers carpark in beautiful sunshine. With the snow all around the scenery was breathtaking. The weather held until we neared the summit of Beinn Ghlas when the mist fell. (along with the temperature). However, that couldn't dampen the satisfaction of completing my first munro. After a stop for lunch, we pressed on to the top of Ben Lawers. The weather was closing in with strong winds and snow showers, but we made it. Being a novice, I found it a hard climb but munro no.2 was under my belt. The weather eased off and we decended around the north side of Beinn Ghlas. Amazing day!!
I should say there were some very experienced climbers in our party and we were all properly equipped for the weather and conditions. Only regret was not being able to see the views from the top. I will just have to go up again....
