Two winter walks in two weekends - does life get better than this?

First time up to Loch Cluanie and we definately picked the day for it.

Started the walk up Am Bathach from the layby just after ten and soon were knee deep in snaaaaa!!! :D

We didn't hit this with our usual pace as we were too busy soaking up the views on this cracking corbett (know one mentioned that for every up there was a down - still adds to the fun).

We reached the summit at around 12 and spent some time taking photos and and hiding behind a rock to eat lunch before setting off to Ciste Dhubh.

Forgot that coming off a corbett to a munro gives a bigger climb than two munros  still blows out the cobwebs from the week.

We took the line over the fin - good little scramble in the conditions -man another climb after this? What a summit though - great fin in the snow.

Due to time and lack of space we didn't hang about, and were heading back down...

Living the dream!

Finished the walk out in the dark before a hellish drive back to Aberdeen via Dufftown.... Still one of the most enjoyable walks i've ever done.

Looks a fantastic and memorable day!

Can't be blazing a trail in some fresh snow - bloody exhausting though

Ciste Dhubh's a stunner in whatever season - I managed a summer sunrise from the top a couple of years ago: quite a contrast.

Apologies for not supplying the WH lackies to do the trailblazing snow plodding this time.

Two successive days - two successive weekends - yes, winter's really begun now - mind you, it's lashing it down here and barely conducive to going out to the shops never mind a hill.

I have done Am Bhatach and admired Ciste Dubh from a number of surrounding peaks, but I don't think I've ever seen them looking quite this hot! :D

Excellent stuff :D Some great photos there. Found these two hard enough with no snow, so can imagine they must be some effort in that deep soft snow.

Cheers - Pics are a mixture taken from the guys I was on the walk with so can't claim the credit for all of them.

would certainly agree with you there - Ciste Dhubh has a great shape and looks even better in the snow - hard going at times but looked a cracking day - cheers :)
