The plan was to do Helvellyn via Swirrel edge then down to lower man and back round, but we ran out of daylight and had to come back down the same way as we went up. Great walk in winter conditions. If you do use this map at any point be aware that the paths up to Helvellyn, which are very well made and clear no longer follow the green line on the map I think they must of relayed them due to erosion.
This board helps you to share your walking route experiences in England and Wales... or overseas.
Warning
Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.

I think I've read that there have been a couple of fatalities on it over the years, the eroded state of the path making it dangerous. - So its good that work is being done on the path.
I mean't the path up to Helvellyn sorry, don't think there is a path on the edge. If there is it was under the snow
