There were 3 options on where to start this walk and all depended on parking, so i drove to my first option which was Halmyre Mains and got parked just off the A701. The other 2 were from Romanno House or Flemington, both longer but probably good walks. From Halmyre i walked past the farm and through the field, again like the previous days walk i passed as the Sheep were having breakfast. There were also logs in the field which i was later to find out was from the felling of the trees further on in the walk. The route i was taking shows the track going so far through the trees and ending and i was aware i may have had to negotiate my way through but luckily they had been felled with new ones planted near the burn. On my way up i visited the little 358m hill enroute as i liked the look of the wee ridge. I then returned to the track and followed to the trees and down to the burn. Once over the burn there was a Drystane Dyke Wall with a barbed wire fence on the other side to get over. Getting over it wasn't much problem on the way up but a little more difficult on the way down as it was a big step up but if you have long legs you should have little problems. It was from here on the hard work started as the snow was ankle deep all the way up as well as knee deep and waist deep in places. I eventually reached the summit and got some nice views over to the Pentlands as well as the Borders. I returned by the same route.
