Not much to say about Common Hill apart from walked up the track from Douglas and walked back down again. The Hill is spoiled by wind turbines and had to imagine what it looked like before man erected these things.1hr 20mins. After arriving back at the car i drove to Kirkland to walk Kirkland Hill, this was a far nicer walk as the weather was better and had no turbines spoiling it. There is a parking area at Kirkland and from it i continued along the road where a waymarked signs leads you around the trees avoiding the farm. There are various stiles for getting over walls and fences but the field is very muddy but it's only a short section till you're back on the track. I followed the track to Vennet and then a path although i soon left the path to head straight up to the ridge and onto the summit. On the way up i could see what was left of St Connel's Church, which i visited on my way back. I returned from the summit down a quad track which took me down the south side of Kirkland Hill, visiting the Church before returning to the car.1hr 30 mins.

Neat JC. I mind doing Common Hill in thick clag, so thick we didnt see the turbines, mind hearing them alright, very spooky...... Look forward to Kirkland, thanks for that.

oh what a coincidence
Common Hill was in thick clag when I did it well

strange that we hillwalkers seem unbothered by not seeing its panoramic views

Hi JC, Kirkland Hill looks a fine wee walk, with helpful farmers, styles and all, getting spoilt

Good stuff JC. I definitely intend to include Kirkland Hill into my Muirkirk meanderings in the summer of next year! :D
