This day has been a long time coming,6 months,6 long months was getting to the stage where I was starting to wonder if the ankle injury I suffered all those months ago was final going to end any sort of serious walking I was ever going to do in the future, the rehab has been long and at times painful,5/6 days a week after work,35 /40 mins at a time doing excersizes to try and re build some sort of strength in my right anke & ligament to get back walking, all I could do was read all the reports, and look at all the pictures for most TRs people were posting and look forward to maybe writing one of my own again.

So this was it Sat 2nd March, the day I was going to get a chance, sorry maybe get a chance to see some of the views we only see from walking long kms & climbing hundreds of meters of accent,to see views that 95% of people in the stunning country we live in can never imagine of ever seeing (nowt so strange a folk)they will never understand why. :? :? :? .

Me,Quoman,Scottish Leaf,Tomsie & Dawnfoth all set of from Rannoch Station en-route to Carn Dearg & Sgorr Gaibhre around 8.30 am,not the standard "trade route" from Corrour Station that most people use,we didnt want the time constraints of getting & waiting for a train to & from Corrour. The weather all week had been stunning with more & more stunning pictures be posted every day,and now maybe it was our turn, but with my history which most people will be aware this was never a "gimme"  .Crampons & ice-axes were at hand as I had seen Scoobs pictures on FB from the week before & lots of snow was present, however they were never used, infact it was quite the opposite, lots of heather bashing and falling through soft snow meant a hard slog of a day but with the company at hand we all had a fantastic day.

So there we have it,not the most inspiring of TRs,but for me one of the most satisfying I have ever done on all my time on Walkhighlands, its hard to explain how I felt on that 1st summit, well maybe its not,I felt something I have not felt for 6 months, something only like minded people who climb the mountains in this wonderful country of ours, know need for me to explain how I felt, you all know how it felt, long may this feeling continue.

Nice one Willie. I can sort of relate.... For very different reasons its been 6mths since I've walked in Scotland at all, and 18mths since any big hills/summits. Sometimes I'd give anything to be out in a pishing rain storm on a claggy Scottish hill!
Good to see you back :)

aha  , now I know why it was cloudier with lower visibility yesterday....gammy's back with a bang

but seriously......well done all, esp you, gammy  - personally I enjoyed the whole thing of getting on and off at Corrour and certainly want to go back but your route looks just as good and a wee bit more practical - that together with the excellent company and even some blue sky must've made it all the better for your comeback - will be looking out for you on the hills - cheers :)

Thoroughly enjoyable day, some cracking views on a different from normal route, even the heather bashing couldn't take the shine of it.

Best of all though was seeing the big fella get round it all. Well done Gammy!!
