Did this walk with a lad from work who needed to get some hill walking experience for a charity walk in June, decided on Tinto hill because of its location and size. Unfortunately it was snowing when we set off and the weather turned really bad when we reached the summit. A good walk though, ideal if you haven't done much walking before. The route is very easy to follow and the car park is sign posted from the main road.
Warning
Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
