With all the arctic weather Angus been getting lately, I decided to go up Craigowl Hill at the Sidlaws.

What is normally a simple easy easy going walk in the Sidlaws, this was incredibly hard going when I reached the knee-deep snow, constantly being frustrated at how slow it was taking me. But it was a great sense of achievement when I finally got to the trig point in the howling gale. It had taken me almost 2 hours to get from Balkello Carpark to Craigowl Hill. I was crawling at times, so I wouldn't step through the snow which was great fun(!) And when I gotten near the top, I went right through the snow and into the marsh. Man you gotta love the feeling of the shocking wet cold feeling running through you boots! yikes!!
So no way I was going back down the path route...it was a direct route down straight the hill towards Balkello carpark. I finally ended up back at the car after 3 hrs, slightly longer than anticipated, but all in all, a jolly good way to spend my Sunday morning :-)

Good for you macq23, hard hard going in deep snow, but you made it and at least you could stand up at the trig point
