Schiehallion - 3rd April 2013While staying at Dunkeld, Invermill Caravan park, over the Easter Break in 2013 we took the opportunity to walk up Schiehallion which was only a 45 minute drive away from the caravan site.
Coming along were Eilidh, my daughter, 13 years old and the Woodfines, John, Anne and Max, the youngest of the group at 6. Not to forget the 2 dog Lexi and Benji.
Started the walk at 9.30am on a clear and crisp day, the top of the mountain was very snowy and somewhat forbidding from the car park.
Walk started off easily enough on a well constructed path but soon became snow covered and somewhat slippy, especially where the sun had melted the top layer of snow which had subsequently frozen a few times making it very slippy.
After a bit of a climb we reached a section that was quite precarious due to the icy snow but we successfully navigated it without issue, after a number of stops and false summits we stopped for lunch.

This gave us the extra burst of energy required to get us to the top which was another 45 minutes on from where we stopped. We reached the top at 1pm where the clear blue sky's and sunny day really made for the best views down over Loch Rannoch and the other mountains surrounding us.
All of us made it to the top, although Max struggled on the last stretch but he did really well getting to the top of the mountain, especially at his age!
Eilidh was very pleased to have made it to the top.

The walk down took about 1 and a half hours with a few slips and slides due to the snow but all made it safely and enjoyed a thoroughly great day made better by the excellent weather.
A great walk and a great day out with family and friends.
This was the first Munro for Eilidh, John, Anne and Max as well as the dogs! Well done to all of them.
