None of my wee pals were out today so keen to get out it was Johnny no mates time again, destination Cairngorms.Forecast a bit dodgy with MWIS saying storm force winds likely on the plateau  Still could always get to Beinn Bhreac and bail if it was too bad.

Turned out ok in the end, still windy but nowhere near as bad as i thought it would be,the plateau between the hills was boggy but nowhere near as bad as i thought it would be, but the crossing of the Allt Glas Mor turned out to be a bit of a nightmare ,walked up and down the banks for about 20 mins before taking the plunge into the knee deep fast flowing water :( Apart from that a good day ,clear skies mostly and another 2 'Gorms gone ,only 3 to go

Great report and photos, Pigeon, much appreciated as I'm planning to head up Glen Derry myself on Wednesday. Looks like I need to be prepared for wet feet, the Allt Glas Mor is definitely in spate!

I would love to download that photo of the Hutchison Hut that you posted, any chance you could email it to me? If so then drop me a pm and I'll reply with my email address. I tried to right-click and save the pic directly from the website but no joy. Thanks in advance if you can help.

Well done. Weather looked good. Grammy, me and a few others had a torrid time up there.

Nice one - and pretty damn rapid too (unless you biked up to Derry Lodge that is)! 28.5 km in 7 hours. I managed just 20 km in 6 hours yesterday.

Another couple in the bag then pigeon

I'd looked at going to the Cairngorms on the saturday or sunday to pick off a stray Munro, but the forecast suggested it was better to stay home (enjoyed a clagfest/bogfest on the Monday  ). Glad to see your pictures proved me right  Just goes to prove that you can't trust the forecast. Seriously though, glad you got some good weather and views at the weekend. I certainly enjoyed my trip on this two.....although I managed to keep my feet (and legs) dry when I did them  That burn looked ferocious  Glad you made it across ok.

Another good trip, pigeon - glad the weather turned out so much better than over here in the west ! Going on your own does have its benefits esp on flexibility. For deeper river crossings I just carry a pair of flipflops and poles to steady me - so far they've worked........(touch wood). You're steadily climbing up the numbers, at the rate I'm going you'll zoom past shortly  - cheers :)
