First proper ridge - Meall nan Tarmachan

Whew! What a day out!

After a couple of recent Munro walks that were more hilly than mountainous this gentle stroll gave me a bit of a work out.

With the start timed to avoid the gale force winds of the morning I benefitted from fairly clear weather all afternoon, which ultimately led to a touch of sunstroke on the day after, but worth it.

You can do this circuit without a map the trail is so clear and obvious, and on a clear day the views are stunning. There's one steep section up the final approach to Meall nan Tarmachan, and one nervy scramble on the descent from Meall Garbh, (which I saw some walkers baulk at when further along the ridge myself, unfortunately they couldn't work out how to circumvent it either), along with a very steep trail down off Beinn nan Eachann, but all in all it's a fantastic afternoon out in the right weather. As the map advises you can cut across at a marked cairn in the bealach after Beinn nan Eachann to a quarry and a farmer's track back to the car parks if you don't fancy doing the complete circuit.

Either way well worth the time and effort.

Nice report, agree with you that is one hill that you can never lose the path, unless the white stuff appears of course
Been up MnT at least 3 times but have never done the ridge
That could be another one to pencil in for the summer (when it arrives)
