Decided i'd write my first walk report. Hope you enjoy it.
Early on Friday the 24th May 2013 myself and the dog dropped the other half off at the train station for work. The weather forecast was looking great for the day so I was glad it wasn't me.
Off we went from Greenock round to Arrochar where we parked up and I had a short chat with two other members of the website. (Sorry I missed your names if you read this)
Booted up and ready to go we set off up the path at a little before 8am.
10 minutes in the Sun was already high in the sky and the mood was great, as were the views back across Loch Long to Arrochar.
At this point in time I was only planning on heading up Beinn Ime, and walked up the path which goes between Narnain and the Cobbler as you would.
After leaving the treeline around 800ft the Cobbler soon came in to view, what a cracking looking mountain. I had decided before I left that I wanted to get a photo of the dog with it in the background, so I tried getting him to sit and look in the right direction. After a while I managed to get a decent snap.
Some of them weren't so decent.
So on we went taking in the views and the sunshine. Both of us were having a cracking time and I decided we'd head up Beinn Narnain before going forward to Ime. (Might as well make use of the weather while its here)
I'm not sure if many others go this way, but when we got to the end of the main path (Where you would turn left and head up the Cobbler's staircase) we turned right and went up Narnain. I think this is what the majority of people would descend after climbing it from the other side, but nonetheless it was a nice walk. 45 or so minutes later we reached the first summit to some cracking views.
First one done, and off we went to Ime. Kinda... Some of us wanted to sit down for a while.
Sibe (the dog) is a bit of a pain when going downhill. He pulls hard as if there were a prize waiting for him at the bottom. So going down took as long as it did going up as I took a while finding my footing as he was pulling me down. After another 45 minutes we were beginning to ascend again.
The walk up to the summit of Ime was fairly gentle, but it was rather boggy in places and I stopped to feed Sibe along the way. Feeding done, and 1 hour after we started going uphill again we were at the top and the views were cracking here too.
Another short break and we were off again back along the path down between the Cobbler and Narnain. I decided along the way that you can never have too many photos of the Cobbler and snapped another.
Got back to the carpark a little under 7 hours from when we started and what a day. Sibe was exhausted and fell asleep in the back of the car before we'd even set off.
Later that night I realised what bad sunburn i'd picked up from the day out, didn't feel so bad during the walk but that was likely due to the cool breezes from being at higher altitudes. Had suncream in my bag all along but was a silly boy not to use it. Oh well, I won't make that mistake again. Everyday's a school day.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable walk thats not too strenuous.
